Transportation from Burgos Airport to Burgos City Centre

  • By Taxi

The price between the airpot and the city centre is around 10€.

  • By Bus

There is a bus 90 minutes before the departure of the fligth, from Plaza de España to the airport; and 30 minutes later of the arrival of the fligth, there is another bus from the airport to Plaza de España.

The price of the ticket is 0.8€.

Transportation from Madrid Airport to Madrid City Centre

  • By Taxi

It can be advisable to try to agree on the price before starting the journey (between 15 and 20 € to the city centre, depending on traffic and the time of day).

In any case, fares and any extras should be clearly visible inside the taxi. If the fare is much higher than that indicated, you should demand a receipt before paying, which should include the number plate of the taxi, the date and the distance covered. This is the only way to file a complaint if you have been overcharged.

  • By Subway

Since late spring 2002 there is a modern subway (line 8) that connects Barajas International Airport with the Nuevos Ministerios Terminal in less than 15 minutes. By subway you can reach the city centre (Sol, Callao, Ópera, Gran Vía... etc), the Chamartín Train Station

If you wish to go to the Avenida de América Bus Terminal you must take line 8 until 'Colombia', switch to line 9 (direction 'Arganda del Rey')and get off at 'Avenida de América'. The price of a subway ticket is 0,95 €, and a 10-ride ticket (metrobús) costs a bit more than 6 €. You can switch lines as many times as you want for up to 3 hours.

To reach the Chamartín Train Station you must take line 8 until 'Nuevos Ministerios' and there switch to line 1 (direction 'Fuencarral') until 'Chamartín'.

  • By Bus

There is a special bus line that connects Barajas Airport wih Madrid city centre, more specifically with the Avenida de América and Plaza de Colón. Buses leave aproximately every 15 minutes. Tickets cost around 2,4 €.

If you wish to continue your trip to Burgos, you will need to get off at Avenida de América, where you can take a bus of the company ALSA GROUP S.A. If you wish to stay in Madrid city centre you should get off at Plaza de Colón (final stop). It is a 15-minute walk to El Retiro Park and El Prado Museum.

Transportation from Madrid to Burgos

Once in Madrid the easiest and fastest thing to do is to take a bus for Burgos. Buses run more frequently than trains and the journery is shorter than by train. There are few direct trains between Madrid and Burgos. Most of the trains do Madrid-Ávila-Valladolid-Palencia-Burgos, so the ride is around 3,30 hours, as opposed to 2,30 hours by bus.

Madrid and Burgos are quite well connected by bus by means of the company ALSA GROUP S.A. located in the floor -1 of the Transport Interchanger of Avenida de America ('Avenida de America' subway station, lines 4,6,7,9)

The price of a single ticket Madrid-Burgos is about 15€.

Burgos-bound trains in Madrid leave from the Chamartín Train Station, located in the Chamartín subway stop on lines 1 and 10.

The prices of the ticket varies according to the kind of train an the seat class. A one-way ticket in economy class ranges between 18,75 €-21,64 €.

Transportation from Bilbao Airport to Bilbao City Centre

It is sometimes advisable to try to agree on the price before starting the journey (approximately between 15 and 20 € to the city centre, depending on the traffic and the time of day).

  • By Bus

There is a bus line (3247) that connects Sondica Airport in Bilbao with Bilbao city centre ('Plaza Moyúa', near the Carlton Hotel). A ticket costs around 0,90 €.The timetable for Bilbao-bound buses is:

Monday-Friday: 6:15 to 24:00, every 30 minutes
Saturdays, Sunday and holidays: 06:30 to 22:30, every 60 minutes

This bus line also stops on the way to the Airport (final stop) at Gran Vía 79, Plaza Moyúa and Alameda Recalde 11. The ride is about 30 minutes.

If you wish to continue your trip to Burgos by bus, you must go to the Termibús Bus Station. There you will find the company ALSA GROUP, which operates buses to Burgos. It is located on calle Gurtubay 1, near the San Mamés football stadium.

In order to get there you can take a taxi or the subway. If you decide to take the subway you should take Line 1 to Plentzia and get off at 'San Mamés' (2 subway stops).

If you wish to continue your trip to Burgos by train, you need to go to the Abando Train Station on the Plaza Circular. If you do not have a lot of luggage you can easily walk from Plaza Moyúa. It is a plesant 10-minute walk:

Plaza Moyúa >> walk down the Gran Vía >> Plaza Circular

However, if you have too much luggage to walk, it is advisable to take a taxi or the subway. You should take line 1 to Bolueta and stop at 'Abando' (1 subway stop).


Transportation from Bilbao to Burgos

To continue your trip from Bilbao to Burgos it is usually easier and faster to take a bus than a train. The bus takes 1,50 hours and the train 2,30-3 hours. Nevertheless it is advisable to check both possibilities.

  • By Bus

Bilbao and Burgos are connected by bus by the company ALSA GROUP, located in the Termibus Bus Station. The Termibus Station is on Calle Gurtubay 1, near the San Mamés Football Stadium, between the Treasury and Finance Department of the Bizcaia Provincial Council and the Hospital Civil de Basurto.

A one-way ticket costs around 10 €.

  • By Bus

How to Come by Train (from abroad)


If you wish to come by train from France or Portugal, there is a daily direct train from Lisbon and Paris. From France you may also take a train from your nearest station to Biarritz/Hendaye, and then connect with Irún in Spain.

Modern and comfortable hotel-trains connect Milano, Geneva and Zurich with Barcelona, from where you can continue your trip to Burgos on another train.
