GENERAL INFORMATION




In order to attend CISIS 13 conference, you can fly directly to Salamanca Airport. There are daily flights to Barcelona, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca (with Lagun Air and Air Nostrum).

You can also fly to Valladolid Airport or Barajas International Airport in Madrid, the closest airports to Salamanca. Further details below.



MADRID - SALAMANCA




Should you land in Madrid at Barajas airport, there is now a direct bus from Barajas Terminal T1 to Salamanca: see

Salamanca is 200 Km west of Madrid and there are regular bus and train services available.


 

Madrid Airport is located 12 km (8 miles) northeast of Madrid. Since the airport is placed within the council of Barajas, the airport is called Madrid-Barajas.

If your flight lands at Terminal 1, you need to get to Terminal 2 by the free Bus Shuttle (runs every 3 minutes). Please, click in the following link to view a Madrid Airport Map showing the bus shuttle and Underground (line 8). If your flight lands at Terminal 4, you will find an Underground Service direct to Madrid City Center (METRO).

Once at Terminal 2, the cheapest (1 euro) way to get into Madrid City Center is by underground (METRO). The only available line at the Airport is LINE 8. Please, have a look to the Madrid Underground Map to localize it (see northeast).

Of course, there are plenty of Taxis to get to Madrid city center. This may cost around 20 to 30 euro depending where you go, and you can get them from any Terminal.

1. Traveling from Madrid city center to Salamanca by Train

From Aeropuerto (Line 8), change at Nuevos Ministerios to Line 10 north direction (Fuencarral direction) and get down at Chamartin . Chamartin is a Train Station where trains depart to Salamanca.

There is the possibility to purchase your ticket (15.85 euro) online. However, you will not be able to download the ticket if it is the first time that you use this system. In such a case, you still can pay the ticket online, note the reference number (or print the window) and get the ticket at the train station desk (you will be asked to show the same credit card you used to purchase the ticket online). However, your seat will only be booked up to 1 hour before the departure time. In the event that you arrive at the desk after 1 h before the departure time, there still might be the possibility to get it, depending on how busy is that train. Of course, you can also forget about buying online and get the ticket directly at the station.

They take 2 hours and 20 minutes to arrive to Salamanca. Once there, the best option is to get a Taxi from Salamanca train station (called Vialia) to your hotel. The taxi should cost around 4-8 euro.

2. Traveling from Madrid airport to Salamanca by Bus

You can take a direct bus to Salamanca at Terminal 1 of Madrid-Barajas Airport. Please, visit the following link to view the timetable of these: http://www.avanzabus.com/web/horarios/horarios-autobus-madridaeropuerto-salamanca.html. The bus stop is situated in bus parking at Terminal 1.

You must buy the ticket previously following this link: http://www.avanzabus.com/web/ This online system could allow you to get your ticket (22,35 Euro) online. You can download the ticket and print it.

The buses depart from Madrid-Barajas Aiport (Terminal 1) at the following times:

Once in Salamanca bus station, the best option is to take a Taxi to your Hotel. The taxi should cost around 4-8 euro.

3. Traveling from Madrid city center to Salamanca by Bus

From Aeropuerto (Line 8), change at Nuevos Ministerios to Line 6 (circular) shoutheast direction. Get down at Méndez Álvaro . Get out of the Underground and find the Estación Sur bus station (ask someone if you do not find it). There are many buses to Salamanca. This online system could allow you to get your ticket (11.25 or 17:00 euro for one way for services N or E, see below) online. You can download the ticket and print it. If so, you only need to go straight away to the bus. Of course, you can also buy a ticket at the station.

(E means express service, which takes 2 hours and a half; N means normal service, which takes 3 hours and 5 minutes and has one stop at Avila).

Once in Salamanca bus station, the best option is to take a Taxi to your Hotel. The taxi should cost around 4-8 euro.

VALLADOLID - SALAMANCA




Salamanca is 115 Km southeast of Valladolid and there is a bus service from the airport to the city centre. Regular bus and train services are available from Valladolid (city centre) to Salamanca.


 



Valladolid - Salamanca (Bus):

Valladolid´s airport, Villanubla, is situated 11 km outside of Valladolid. The most convenient way to get to either the bus or train station is by taxi. However, it is also possible (although not very frequent) to catch a bus from the airport to the city centre.

Taxi: A run from the airport to the bus station costs around 15 Euros.
Bus: It is also possible to reach the Auto-Res bus station by a bus service running from the airport (Linecar). Bus services run on Monday to Friday, leaving the airport at 11:20, 15:15 and 19:20, Saturdays leaving at 11:20 and 17:45 and on Sundays and public holidays leaving the airport at 19:50. The cost is approximately 1 euro. Once at the "Auto-res" station in Valladolid, buses run frequently to Salamanca. The cost is approximately 6.75 Euros for a single ticket and 12.15 Euros for a return ticket. Valladolid - Salamanca (Train):

The most direct way to get to the train station is by taxi, which should cost around 15 Euros. The trip to the city centre takes about 15 minutes.
