Biography

Emilio Corchado is an Associated Professor at the University of Burgos (Spain), Higher Polytechnic School. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and his degree in Physics from University of Salamanca (Spain).

His research interests include neural networks, with a particular focus on exploratory projection pursuit, maximum likelihood hebbian learning, self-organising maps, multiple classifier systems and Hybrid Systems.

He has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles in a range of topics from knowledge management and risk analysis, intrusion detection systems, food industry, artificial vision, and recently modelling of industrial processes.

He is the director of the GICAP Research Group at the University of Burgos, Spain.

He is member of the Editorial Boards of the International Journal of Computational Intelligence and Applications (IJCIA) and also of the International Journal of Reasoning-based Intelligent Systems (IJRIS).

Dr. Corchado has also served as a reviewer for several reputed journals and on the program committee for more than twenty international conferences

He has been organizing chair, program committee chair, steering committee member or chair, session chair and general chair for a number of conferences, such as International Conference on Hybrid Artificial Intelligence Systems (HAIS), International Conference on Intelligent Data Engineering and Automated Learning (IDEAL), and International Conference on Knowledge-Based Intelligent Information and Engineering Systems, (KES).

He has guest-edited a number of special issues on several leading international journals.

He has received research funding from the MCyT and JCyL. He is or was member of some networks as the Nature-inspired Data Technology (NiDT) focus group within the European CA project on Nature-inspired Smart Information Systems (NiSIS). He was also member of the following Spanish Networks: Spanish Network of Data Mining and Learning and AgentCities.ES.

He is also reviewer for the 6th Frame Program, European Commission.
